Welcome
to the Marigaie Slettedahl Piano Studio
"Music can be
an enjoyable, uplifting and rewarding part of life,
but it must be approached with determination and
desire by the student, parent and teacher."
Marigaie
Slettedahl - Fall 1995
"Use the
talents you possess, for the woods would be very
silent if no birds sang except the very best."
Henry Van
Dyke

Marigaie (pronounced Mary Gay) Slettedahl offers
piano lessons in Auburn, Washington. She teaches
children and adults. Her studio has been open since
1986.
The following is from her studio policy and tells a
bit about Marigaie's approach to the study of the
piano.
The Goal -
-to develop each individual student's potential
in musicianship, self-confidence through performance
and an over-all appreciation and understanding of
many types
of music.
The Teacher -
-gives one 45 minute lesson weekly: a 30 minute
private lesson combined with a 15 minute
musicianship lesson in the computer lab. The
computer lab consists of a MIDI keyboard, COMPUTER
and SOFTWARE, and the TAP MASTER system. The lab
uses modern technology to teach and drill basic
theory skills in a fun and exciting way. It will
open up new opportunities for ear training,
improvement in sight-reading and overall
musicianship while encouraging experimentation in
improvisation and composition.
-maintains personal growth in music
organizations, workshops and study.
-encourages those students who are prepared to
enter the Washington State Music Teachers
Association (WSMTA) auditions and other contests in
the area.
-has a lending library to help students with
music costs.
-has a minimum of 2 group classes per term and 2
recitals a year for performance experience.
(The group classes present an opportunity for
learning and gaining experience in performance
training, theory, ear training, sight reading and
ensemble playing. The classes will be divided
according to age and music level. These classes are
a very important part of the program.
The Student -
-arrives on time at each lesson, well prepared
and with all materials.
-keeps track of practice time. This helps the
teacher to evaluate the student's progress,
commitment and understanding of the materials.
-is expected to complete the term.
-participates in recitals and performance classes
(at least by attendance).
The Parent -
